Around the world, half of the medicines prescribed are not taken as they should. In the US, this results in 125.000 deaths per year and $290B in avoidable costs to the healthcare system. Medication non-adherence is responsible for a big number of hospitalizations, physician office visits and emergency room visits. We investigated this problem deeply and came up with a comprehensive solution for it: a smart pill dispenser together with a mobile app to increase patient engagement.
