Description

We are hiring two backend engineers, medior to senior level, to join our Porto  or Skopje team. Depending on your experience, you will either grow into ownership of complex backend domains or step in as a technical anchor from day one. Either way, you will write production code daily, work closely with the wider engineering team and have real influence over how we build.

AI is not a perk here. it is part of how we work. We are looking for engineers who have been using agentic coding assistants for at least a year, who use them as a genuine productivity multiplier, and who want to be at the front of where this is going. The ideal candidate does not just use these tools: they explore, experiment and actively bring the team along through demos, pair sessions and day-to-day mentoring. If you have been quietly building this skillset and looking for a team that actually values it, this is that team!!

We build on .NET 8, Azure and clean architecture principles. We care about well-designed, well-tested software. And because we work distributed across multiple countries, being vocal matters as much as being skilled. In online sessions, how you communicate is how the team understands your work, your thinking and where things stand.

What you will be doing

  • Building and maintaining backend services in C# / .NET 8 using ASP.NET Core and Azure Functions.
  • Owning features end to end, from domain design and data modelling through to deployment and observability.
  • Working with SQL Server and Entity Framework Core, schema design, migrations, query optimisation.
  • Using agentic coding tools as a core part of your daily workflow and actively helping teammates do the same.
  • Taking a frontrunner position in AI adoption: exploring new tools, running experiments, sharing findings and bringing the team forward.
  • Contributing actively in online team sessions, voicing ideas, surfacing blockers early and engaging with the team rather than working in silence. We work distributed, so being vocal is how we stay aligned and keep a real sense of team dynamics.
  • Participating in code reviews and architecture discussions.
  • Mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge, reviewing work constructively and helping people grow.
  • Actively contributing to the culture of our Porto/Skopje team as it takes shape. This is a start-up and the way we work, collaborate and hold each other to a high standard is something we build together, not something that is handed down.

Requirements

  • 3–7+ years of professional backend development experience in C# / .NET (medior: 3+, senior: 5+).
  • Solid command of REST API design, dependency injection and layered or clean architecture.
  • Experience with SQL, schema design, indexing and writing efficient queries.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience with agentic coding assistants, used daily as a core part of your workflow. Not as an experiment, but as a habit.
  • A genuine drive to be ahead of the curve on AI tooling, with a track record of bringing others along rather than keeping it to yourself.
  • Naturally vocal and communicative in online sessions especially, you make yourself heard: sharing progress, asking questions, flagging problems early and engaging with the team rather than going quiet.
  • Pragmatic and delivery-focused, with a genuine care for code quality and maintainability.
  • Someone who likes to work from the office. Collaboration, whiteboards and spontaneous conversations are how you do your best work.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Azure services (Functions, Service Bus, Blob Storage, Key Vault, Application Insights).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, Azure Bicep or similar.
  • Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design or Clean Architecture patterns.
  • Experience in or curiosity about the energy sector, trading, flexibility markets or grid management.
  • Prior experience in a scale-up or startup where engineering culture was still being shaped.

Perks

  • A central role in a scale-up accelerating the energy transition in Europe.
  • Compensation that grows with the success of the organisation, including the possibility of equity participation.
  • A culture that actively encourages you to grow beyond your comfort zone. Conferences, courses, new technical challenges: those conversations are always welcome.
  • Real ownership and direct impact with no layers and no bureaucracy.
  • A genuine say in how the team is built, the culture, the rituals, the standards. You are joining early enough that your fingerprints will be on it for years.
  • A Porto/Skopje office being built from the ground up, with a team that takes engineering and collaboration seriously.
  • 4 or 5 days per week, your choice.
