Science plays a crucial role in our society. It is the frontline of knowledge development and the birthplace of invention. Because science is on the front line, it should be value-free and driven by curiosity, not by interests. However, knowledge development without contact with society is meaningless; developed knowledge should also come back to society.

Fundamental research is important for real breakthroughs. But the title fundamental research is also misused as a cover for research with little relevance, even in the long term. L'art pour l'art in science detracts from society's understanding of science as a crucial function, and thus damages the image of the academy as a whole.

Bringing knowledge to society is about more than just monetising science; it is about translating academic publication into accessible information. In the current system of science, it is not yet sufficiently clear who is responsible for making this translation.

IDfuse believes that too much is currently demanded of scientists. Not only do they have to be great publishers, give top education and fulfil organisational functions, nowadays an academic also has to master the contact with the outside world. Time is short, and all tasks suffer as a result. IDfuse unburdens researchers by taking on the valorisation tasks and ensuring during the research that the potential added value for people and society is realised.

IDfuse is a young company, set up by two driven entrepreneurs who are also extremely enthusiastic about the field and enjoy translating new ideas and specialist knowledge into new added value.
