This February 5th the Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the 4th edition of the Tech Hiring Conference in Lisbon bringing to the table the topic «Building Effective, Talent-Driven Hiring Processes».
In the best edition (yet), we had the chance to learn even more from industry experts with talks, panels, and workshops.
Matt Buckland, Founder, and Head of Talent @ Rainmaking Venture Studio, with over seventeen years of experience in the design and implementation of Recruitment and Human Resources strategies, began with a talk to show his insights on how to Build Effective and Talent-Driven Hiring Processes.
Matt talked about how teams can get what they need from a process as well as ensuring that candidates are made to feel more than just numbers. He broke down some of the process dogma and gave some insight on how to build a more experimental approach when attracting and engaging with people.
Our very own CEO, José Paiva took the stage right after Matt to talk about how to Blend Data & Human in Recruitment Processes. Like he said «Our goal is to deliver tech solutions with a human touch» thought the whole process, «AI empathy is a poor substitute for human empathy», he added.
José is a firm believer that human interaction needs to be present or at least felt during the whole process.
Eva Baluchova, from Bridge Recruitment, took the main stage right after with insights on How to Influence Candidate Decisions on their Journey.
«Candidates don’t always take the direct path and apply for a job when they visit your site», she said. You only have a few seconds to influence the candidates’ decision to apply for your job offer. Eva talked a lot about copywriting and the psychology behind the whole process and how to make the candidate almost «sell themselves to you».
Our last talk of the afternoon was given by Algirdas Zalatoris, Lead Tech Recruiter @ Revolut about Standing out in the competitive world of Tech Recruitment.
When the war for technical talent becomes omnipresent Technical Hiring gets as challenging as ever before. Algirdas talked about what it takes to become a winner as well as some lessons learned the hard, and the soft way while recruiting for small, and enterprise brands. The biggest lesson from this talk? «You need to know your audience needs even before they do.»
Right after, it was time for the Managing Internal and External Recruitment Processes Panel, moderated by Mariana Barbosa from Revista Pessoas, with the presence of Manjuri Sinha from OLX Group, Jóni Sousa from Equal Experts and Álvaro Gonzalez from Ironhack.
2 workshops also took place in the afternoon, The Power of Data ran by Victoria Farrelly and Jennifer Hasche from Uber & the Why Candidates don’t Reply and How to Fix it workshop, hosted by Sjamilla Van der Tooren from SVDT Recruitment.
The key quotes from these workshops that should leave you thinking? Victoria and Jennifer touched on the first subject saying «We’re asking recruiters to be more data-driven, but not giving them more tools to do so» Sjamilla said, «A good message is one that is personal and that it shows that you did your research» when talking about speaking with potential workers.
This edition was great and we can not wait for you to see what we are already planning for the rest of the year! 🙂
