Landing.Tech #5 — Black Mirror is Real!

The privacy criticism has been around since it’s release, but what’s your take on this?

Unlocking tech talent stories

February 7, 2020

Hey you!

February has arrived and at least in Lisbon where we are based, we got a nice rise in temperature. But while the thermometers and the general happiness of the population always increase with the sun, technology is less directly affected by it. Nonetheless, here are the 4 things (yes, this week we have 4) that caught our attention:

This is not an article, it is actually a presentation. Benedict Evans gave this presentation at an event in Davos in January 2020. He digs into macro and strategic trends in the tech industry, he looks at what it means that 4bn people have a smartphone and how we connected everyone. Then he discusses what the Next Big Thing is. 110% worth checking it!

This has to be worrying right? Safety and security checks are supposed to improve your trust on airlines and airports, but after seeing that the tests involved scanning public websites, mobile apps, and exposures of sensitive airport data on public code repositories and the dark web, one can only worry that flying is not that safe after all.

Black Mirror Season 4, the episode titled Arkangel. That’s the flashback our minds saw when we read this article. Parents can now see and control how their children are using the messaging app. The privacy criticism has been around since it’s release, but what’s your take on this?

And finally, we bring you not really something that happened but a small joke. AmazonDating.co is a parody that shows how Amazon Prime’s UX works disturbingly well as a dating site. Just take a look at the comments. Great stuff. See you next week!

Aim for more,
