Around 130 tech professionals joined us in Berlin in the beginning of this month, marking our third event of the year in Europe!
Our team at Landing.jobs matches the best tech professionals with the best companies out there. Given its relevance as a startup city, like it was mentioned in our Lisbon event at Beta-i, Berlin is home to many of the companies we’re collaborating with, and the base for a lot of our users as well.
Virtually speaking, we are in Berlin, but we wanted to get to know more about the hiring scene in the city and get to know the community face to face. Naturally, we did what we do best: bring together tech professionals, recruiters and curious minds in one room, and feed them with our signature Natas and Portuguese wine.

Thanks to the amazing folks at the Rainmaking Loft, we secured a pretty amazing venue to host our guests.

To help us answer the question of the evening, “Who are Berlin tech startups looking to hire in 2016?”, Co-founder Pedro Oliveira led a panel discussion with special guests, Alan Duric, Co-founder/CTO at Wire; Jenny Buch, Talent Manager at Point Nine Capital; Michael Cassau, Founder/CEO at BYEBUY, and Peter Grosskopf, Chief Development Officer at HitFox Group.

The discussion led to some interesting insights on how Berlin compares to other startup cities and what makes it uniquely different, but the main conclusions were about what startups are looking for in tech professionals when hiring in the German city.

Our guest speakers agreed: having consistent teams with people who want to grow and make a difference together is the most important thing of all.

Peter Grosskopf even said that team fit always comes first when hiring at HitFox Group, which only proves its growing importance.

In fact, like our Head of Operations David Bento has shared, “one of the major perks of working in a tech startup is the ability to actively mold and shape the internal company culture from the ground up”. It’s what we at Landing.jobs and so many other startups have done, and what every company should really invest time in.

It’s one of the reasons why guest speaker Jenny Buch said finding a job in tech is easy. By focusing on the companies you really want to work with, and by understanding and identifying with their company culture (and being a great professional, of course), you can easily convince them that you deserve a spot in one of their office chairs (or bean bags, or nets, or whatever startups have lying around the office these days).

After the main discussion was over, everyone shifted their focus back to the scrumptious Natas we had ready.

Our first offline event in Berlin was great and had an amazing turnout. We can’t wait to come back.
Next stop: the beautiful city of Rome on March 31! Our Head of Operations, David Bento, and Italian Market Business Developer, Giovanna Trimoldi, will be there with another batch of special guests.
