THE OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer in our Billing team in Portugal!
Responsible for the platform that serves the entire Wellhub business, processing millions of transactions for users and companies around the globe. We work closely with cross functional teams and payment service providers to deliver optimum checkout conversion rates and also efficient account management interactions.
We are creating a new architecture and set of systems that will guarantee consistency across multiple areas and services.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, with a solid history of quality projects delivered, hands-on technical work, willing to work with a team of ~8 mid-level, senior and staff software engineers working from Brazil and Portugal.

YOUR IMPACT
- Participate in the development of some of the most critical and challenging services in our ecosystem, seeking to build long-term and sustainable solutions;
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve services focusing on performance, scalability, and resilience;
- Build Integration with 3rd party API and tools;

Requirements

For this specific role, please note that experience working with Kotlin or Java (Spring), microservices, and distributed systems are mandatory requirements.
- Focus on making things right and better at every opportunity;
- Solid experience with RESTful APIs written in: Java/Kotlin + Spring (main stack);
- Asynchronous processing and data pipelines;
- Software Architecture knowledge: Event driven architectures and Serverless;
- Software quality and test automation mindset;
- Cloud computing (AWS) and Cloud Native (K8s) experience;
- Experience with SQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server or any other relational database;
- Experience with NoSQL database such as DynamoDB;
- Experience with microservices and high volume distributed systems;
- Experience using AI agents during daily tasks and development;
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience.
