Software Engineering Team Lead

About the role:

You'll be managing two complementary disciplines: backend engineers building highly scalable architectures for machine learning systems and platforms (Scala, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes), and security software engineers developing JavaScript and mobile techniques for fingerprinting, bot detection, and spoofing prevention. Your role is to bring these together into a cohesive, high-performing team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead talented backend and security software engineers as their direct manager, supporting their growth and development
• Run the team's Agile development process, working with Product to set objectives and build a development plan to achieve them
• Own the technical vision and architecture for highly scalable, real-time and batch systems 
• Participate in hands-on development and code review
• Lead the hiring and onboarding of new team members
• Collaborate closely with research, data science, and product teams to define and implement new features and shape the roadmap

• 3+ years as a Team Leader, working with Agile methodologies
• 5+ years of proven hands-on experience developing large-scale, distributed, highly available cloud applications
• Strong server-side engineering background, ideally with Scala/Java; familiarity with stream processing and databases
• Experience or strong interest in web/mobile security, anti-fraud, or fingerprinting domains is an advantage
• Strong technical and product vision, and the ability to communicate it to multiple audiences
• Proven track record delivering enterprise solutions from design through production
• Ability to inspire, lead, and mentor high-performing senior engineers
• Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment while staying focused on goals
• Strong customer focus, excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent
• Advanced level of English, both written and spoken
• Currently living in Portugal and legally authorized to work in the country
