• How We Work & Our Tech Stack

Our Portugal technology hub is home for the Motors vertical, where the teams create Europe’s leading destinations for buying and selling new and second-hand cars, car parts, motorcycles, and much more (You might know Otomoto, Standvirtual or Autovit).

Behind the curtains, our teams are part of the Amazon Web Service (AWS) Global Accelerator group. OLX Motors engineers work with Principal Solutions Architects and Software Engineers from AWS to design blueprint solutions for the future. We use Golang for microservices, we also utilize Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and AWS Lambda. We write Android applications in Kotlin and iOS applications in Swift, And on the front end, we utilize React to build a storybook across brands.

• On Learning

We take learning and development seriously.

MyAcademy is our learning portal. It supports close to 5000+ courses from leading ed-tech providers like Udemy, Harvard Publishing, Vado, and Codecademy. MyAcademy also offers the much-coveted Udacity Nanodegree programs in fields like Machine learning, Deep Learning, Blockchain, AI, and VR.

We offer tech-special workshops and company-funded certifications, such as Agile & Scrum, AWS, and Mobile & Web security. In addition, we host SME-led sessions on various tech platforms and lead soft skill enhancement sessions.

• Our Solutions

Think about the hassle of buying or selling a car.

The average car buyer used to visit five dealerships. Though online research has changed the process, buyers still spend hours at dealerships before buying a car. And the negotiation process can get overwhelming. For sellers, hurdles exist as well. It’s hard to know the true value of a car and find potential buyers.

The OLX platform aims to solve the problems of both buyers and sellers at scale. We do that by creating seamless user journeys that mix online and offline worlds to ease all those pain points.

Some of the projects we are working on right now include:
★Machine learning price recommendation models: providing sellers with the best, most accurate, and most updated price recommendations

★New user experiences: offering financing options for car buyers and integrating offline inspections for car sellers, our platform is becoming an end-to-end solution for car buying and selling

★Strong APIs: allowing our platforms to communicate externally and internally via APIs to allow, for example, external suppliers upload all their car ads parts in bulk to the platforms or to allow connections with offline car inspection points and /or financing services for car buyers

★Search experience enhancement: by customizing search, we can streamline the process of buying cars or car parts

★Reducing complexity: the taxonomy of cars and car parts gets complex (but super interesting), which means we have to organize everything wisely

★Streaming architecture: inside our ecosystem, we’re working to successfully handle a never-ending stream of events
