We are seeking a Performance Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – L7 to join a leading fintech company’s engineering teams in Lisbon. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring high availability, reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical financial systems. The role requires expertise in performance engineering, automation, observability, and reliability practices in large-scale enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

Lead performance testing, tuning, and capacity planning across distributed applications and platforms.
Establish and manage SLOs, SLIs, SLAs, and error budgets to drive reliability goals.
Build and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.
Implement automation frameworks for performance validation, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning.
Support engineering teams with incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and postmortems.
Identify bottlenecks and scalability risks in production and pre-production environments, driving fixes and optimizations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, development, operations) to embed performance and reliability best practices.
Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across teams to uplift engineering standards.

10+ years of experience in Performance Engineering, SRE, or Reliability-focused roles.
Strong expertise in performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, etc.).
Solid hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes / container orchestration.
Proven experience with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, APIs, and distributed systems.
Strong knowledge of observability tools (AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
Proficiency in scripting (Python, Shell, Groovy, etc.) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
Deep understanding of resilience, fault tolerance, scalability, and load balancing patterns.
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation frameworks.
Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities in large-scale enterprise systems.
