Intro

 We are looking for a passionate DevOps Engineer to be part of our new and exciting eCommerce platform, to help our Development Engineers to ensure smooth deploy and have our infrastructure always available to our customers, 

And to extend its lean, cloud based travel platform by on-boarding #travel product customers will love, performing #bigdata and #machinelearning on product quality and tuning the customer experience. 

You will be joining a team that will be responsible for one of our central features and will help us build a single platform to be delivered in different countries.
 

Who you are 

  • You will already live in Lisbon or be willing to relocate. You must already hold a valid work permit for Portugal.
  • 3+ years prior experience as a DevOps
  • You get DevOps, want to leverage AWS, get polyglot, want to show how things should be done while working in a vibrant collaboration space in Lisbon.
  • You are bright and can learn and like a new challenge.
  • Your background may be hardcore IT or something else completely.

What are your responsibilities 

  • Deliver secure by design, tested software that implements user stories/spec to a high quality.
  • Work in an Agile, CICD model delivering rapidly into integration and production.
  • Produce micro services, serverless code and integrations that create end to end working solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers, business and other stakeholders to truly understand business need.
  • Collaborate with vendors to understand their product and get best use from it.
  • Update Agile tools with progress on current activity.
  • Provide accurate effort estimates to produce high quality work.

Main requirements

Primary skills 

  • Since we work in a multi-cultural and internal team, the dominance of English is a key requirement. 
  • Experience with Agile working methods/models/ tools including some or all of: SCRUM, Kanban, Extreme Programming, Squads/Tribes/Chapters/Guilds (Spotify like model), Atlassian JIRA / Confluence. 
  • Experience with automated testing and able to point to specific technologies used and benefits gained. 
  • Experience with CICD technologies like Jenkins also infrastructure as code scripting languages like Ansible, Terraform, Chef or Puppet.
  • Experience with network design in a cloud environment and delivering that design via scripted config/infrastructure as code 
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services Cloud is helpful. Certification from AWS as either a Dev Ops Engineer or Architect is ideal. If no experience with AWS, experience with Google or Azure cloud is still helpful. 
  • Experience designing and building micro services managed in Docker containers orchestrated by K8. Experience of EKS or GKE ideal. Rancher or Openshift useful. 
  • Experience with Cloud Security principles and understands how to lock-down a working environment in which the developer can build and deploy working collections of micro services. 
  • Experience with serverless technologies ideal. E.g. AWS lambda.


Secondary Skills 

  • Full stack skill set, meaning ability to produce complete working services, not just front end or back end.
  • Experience with one or modern programming languages such as Python, Go or also Java, Javascript. Node.js useful. Would expect working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Current working knowledge of at least one modern relational or no-sql database useful. E.g. Postgres/MySQL/Aurora or DynamoDB.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs. Experience with API Maturity Model (RMM) ideal.
  • Experience with API gateways useful. APIgee ideal. Though others useful.
  • Appreciation of Big Data concepts like k/v data structures, map reduce are useful. Experience with Spark programming ideal. Data science or engineering experience useful but not essential.
