Intro

The Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer (gn) - AWS is part of the Global Business Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure team for designing secure, efficient, reliable, scalable, highly available and fault tolerant systems on
base of  Amazon AWS. Lead efforts to identify appropriate use of cloud architecture best practices. The role demands deep and broad technical skills in multiple technical domains such as applications, server, storage, database, network, and security. The position serves as a senior technical expert for creating an integrated user experience across a broad set of technologies.

You are responsible for developing and building IT solutions. In staying up to date with the DevOps best practices,
tools and market trends, you will constantly evaluate and recommend innovative solutions to be applied in our
company. Moreover you will provide technical leadership, guidance and support to the Engineering & Operations
teams, incl. trouble-shooting complex technical issues, perform trainings, stand-ups etc.
 
The key tasks in more detail:
  • Integrate information security aspects in everything you do. Security is essential to our operations. Ensure architectural standards are followed
  • Ensure continuing ability to scale and optimize
  • Work and collaborate with different teams and business units
  • Install and configure solutions, implement reusable components, translate technical requirements, assist with all stages of test data, develop interface stubs and simulators and perform script maintenance and updates
  • Build automated deployments through the use of configuration management technologies. Deploy new modules and upgrades and complete fixes within the production environment and document knowledge transfer
  • Work closely with product management, and engineers to gather requirements and plan infrastructure changes
  • Build infrastructure for new projects like public APIs, Analytics, 3rd party integrations, Batch Processing, Automations, etc.
  •  Manage Production environment on Amazon AWS and handle the operations of the cloud infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain the department’s next generation platform infrastructure and environment
  • Elaborate and introduce suitable tools for platform real time monitoring, alerting and trending
  • Be a key driver in our quest for Continuous Delivery, suggest best practices and potential improvements to our DevOps procedures and toolbox

Main requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical or computer engineering or related degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in designing, building and supporting multi-regional IaaS/PaaS solutions on Amazon AWS
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture and application deployment on Amazon AWS
  • 3+ years hands-on experience operating production using Infrastructure as code (IaC) with Terraform and CloudFormation. Proven experience with EC2, EBS, ECS, VPC, Transit Gateway, Elastic Load Balancers, S3, Route53,  CloudWatch, Lambda
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy and collaborates with teammates in a fast paced environment
  • Strong analytical and design skills, and attention to the details, but not losing the bigger picture
  •  on systems and processes in a sustainable and maintainable way
  • Sound understanding of Identity & Access Management
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with Jenkins
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with Containers and Container Orchestration technologies
  • Minimum 2 year of hands-on experience with Configuration Management Tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef
  • A good understanding of what it takes to deliver successful projects
  • Able to work across multiple projects at the same time, involve subject matter experts when needed
