Intro

Responsible for coordinating the Operations of services mainly developed by Sky Portugal, ensuring high availability and reliability of services and continuous improvement of operations processes. Reports to the head-of technology in Lisbon.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure high availability of Sky Store and Interactive services

  • Continuous monitoring of performance and capacity of the platforms, ensure trends and problem are discovered - Manage incidents and continuously track platform improvements to resolve existing problems.

  • Leading the multiple technical support teams across Lisbon and Osterley, UK (about 15 people) which ensure in-life service restoration, day to day maintenance activity and deployments to various environments,

  • Escalation point of contact for all operational aspects, including potential out of working hours calls.

  • Build relationships with all other Sky areas relevant to our operational processes

  • Create monthly availability, incident and capacity reporting between others

  • Manage operational risks proactively

  • Leading Change Advisory Board for our services and maintain release plan for production systems

  • Frequent review of service processes to ensure efficient operations

  • Support other Lisbon Operational activities

  • Manage operational costs and contracts and provide estimates for new projects.

  • Review architecture for new components to ensure maintainability, scalability, resilience and automation level from a DevOps perspective

  • Explore and introduce new technologies that could improve the operations process and reliability

Main requirements

  • Experience in running/operating end customer facing platforms with significant number of customers

  • Good team working skills and leadership skills.

  • Excellent organisational skills, structured and a methodical approach to work

  • Technical background across a broad range of aspects related to operational management of Web platforms, including networking technology, infrastructure, DevOps, deployment pipelines, development best practices, databases and others.

  • Strong focus on the end customer - ability to keep a view of the big picture for our customers and how to improve our services while being able also to go through

  • Availability to travel

  • Good spoken English
