In the Infrastructure team we create and maintain a self-service platform that makes it easy for engineering to continuously deliver services and products to our users. You can think of this platform as a custom PaaS specially tailored to our needs. This platform should allow us to build fast, secure, scalable and available solutions much more efficiently.

You will help build state of the art systems and data infrastructure to power our digital transformation. Data from over a hundred of sites will power great user features for our media and classified sites. This is a unique opportunity to help design, build, and scale a brand new data infrastructure system to power everything from better articles and classified recommendations to more relevant ads, as well as build production systems that improve UX.

As a Back-end Engineer you will:

  • Together with the team and multiple stakeholders, define and design data infrastructure and distributed systems
  • Develop and implement systems using the best development practices and tools
  • Help define our development environment and communicate the best practices within the organization (i.e. code reviews, testing, etc)
  • Continuously monitor the quality of our systems, design measurements to monitor their health (both the engineering systems and data quality)
  • Keep on top of the latest developments in the cloud, distributed systems, and data science fields
  • Work closely with other teams (data science, product, UX, business) to drive product development

Main requirements

  • You’re fluent in multiple development languages (static and dynamic), and interested in learning more
  • You have a deep understanding of systems design, algorithms, and data structures
  • You have experience developing on Linux
  • The cloud is your friend. Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or any proprietary clouds
  • Experience with distributed computing technologies
  • Experience with some of the “big data” technologies like Spark, MapReduce, Hadoop, Kafka, Storm, Cassandra, large scale storage systems
  • You are comfortable working with multiple stakeholders from different parts of the organization toward a consensus
