The Warehouse Applications Consultant assists Logistics in all warehouse projects requiring the usage of a Corporate standard Warehouse Management System (WMS). He/she act as the overall IT project manager for Panalpina and is in charge of the WMS configuration.

Additionally, the Warehouse Applications Consultant is in charge of supporting all standard WMS projects.

Key Tasks:

  • Define and execute application strategy

  • Participate in the application vision, strategy and footprint definition

  • Governance:

    • Ensure that business solutions team and external consultants use the standard project management methodology and conform to guidelines regarding WMS configuration and usage
  • Project management

    • Proactively support the project managers to deliver the full business project scope regarding configuration and development of the WMS
  • Vendor management

    • Ensure that software vendors meet expectations towards development and configuration of the WMS
  • Change management

    • Plan and control software development and configuration
    • Act as interface between the demand functions and software provider to ensure the IT development meets business expectation and generates business value
  • Risk and exception management

    • Proactively recognize risk and work to prevent and resolve it

Main requirements

  • Degree in IT, business administration, logistics or a similar discipline
  • Minimum 5 years working experience, ideally in an international environment, 3 years thereof in the forwarding/supply chain management industry (air and ocean freight)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Red Prairie Discrete in any of this domain knowledge: WMS configuration, MOCA/DDA, Integrator, Parcel/Centiro, EMS, Nice Label and Jasper/JDA reports
  • Experience in project management
  • English spoken & written

Nice to have

  • German language knowledge
  • Preferably with working experience in a multinational freight forwarder
