We are looking to hire a Corporate Support Software Engineer (Websphere Applications) for our Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Portugal. In this position, you will be supporting and maintaining our onsite WebSphere Middleware, including infrastructure monitoring, Life Cycle Management, Service Requests management and Incident Handling. This challenging position requires several years of experience in Websphere administration, support and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Applications Life Cycle Management
  • Main support activities are the handling and processing of tickets for Service requests and Incidents
  • Work collaboratively with other teams, participate in architecture, design, and development to ensure proper support once applications are productive
  • End-user monitoring, Environment Performance Tuning
  • Understand the business and customer needs to support users and developers on WebSphere family applications - This includes the implementation, validation and deployment of applications, connecting to back-end resources and advanced troubleshooting of moderately complex software applications.
  • Perform technical root cause analysis and outline corrective action for given problems

Main requirements

  • +4 years of experience with Web-based applications, REST, SOA (Services Oriented Architectures) and strong exposure to Web application servers (JBoss would be appreciated)
  • Exposure to Websphere Application Server, HTTP server
  • Competency in relational database structures and SQL (DB2, SQL Server, Informix)
  • Experience with process documentation and process documentation tools (such as Visio.)
  • Exposure to AIX, Linux, Windows system administration and TCP/IP networking
  • Work and/or academic experience with SSL, LDAP, Java, J2EE, XML, JMS, SNMP, SQL and Shell Scripting in a UNIX environment
  • Working knowledge of at least one of ticketing and/or ALM systems (TFS preferred)
  • English (spoken & written)
