Intro

LMIT has developed WiseMetering, an energy management platform for large buildings and retail chains. WiseMetering aims to contribute to a better world, by reducing the consumption of natural resources such as oil, water and gas. We strongly encourage our clients to join us on this battle by reducing their consumption needs with the additional benefit of reducing costs. This makes a lot of sense right!?.

We are a small team that aspires to be great. By being small we all participate in decision making which gives us freedom to choose the best technologies.

Our main challenges at the moment are to move the WiseMetering architecture into a micro service paradigm, to restructure our front-end application (introducing React and Redux, coupled with a UI revision) and to improve back-end performance (GO and RUBY).

We are looking for a Back-End Developer to join our development team that will bring technical knowledge, past experiences and above all good energies ;-)

As Back-end developer you will:

  • Maintain the existing application;
  • Create new functionalities, optimize tasks, and adapt the infrastructure among other challenges that arise with the development of the product;
  • Be integrated into a multidisciplinary team based on agile fundamentals with orientation to produce iteratively;
  • Optimize the application for maximum speed and scalability;
  • Be someone with critical sense, with experience in web application development and API;
  • Work hand-in-hand with front-end developer by giving the outward facing web application elements server side logic;
  • Be concerned with end-users (from a back-end perspective), usability standards, and respect for web standards;
  • Be obstinate, hardworking, passionate with work and with technology;
  • Be open-minded, innovation-minded, collaborative, constructive, and fundamentally self-motivated in order to expand the knowledge in an area where learning speed is the key to business.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders and contribute to technical discussions and architecture, to clarify and deliver project requirements.

Main requirements

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Proficient understanding of Ruby and Ruby on Rails framework (knowing about GO will make the difference)
  • Good understanding of MySQL and NoSQL (Redis, MySQL, Postgres, …)
  • Understanding of front-end web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (to communicate with team members on the front-end)

Perks

  • Team: integration into a small team with greater potential for growth
  • Flexible working hours: the focus is on results
  • Autonomy: to choose the technology
  • Location: be part of the Lisbon Beer hub *
