Intro

The role is responsible for leading and managing large, external delivery projects, as defined by the Professional Services and Managed Services Engagement Managers using the approved Delivery Service Office project management tools and methodology. The role is responsible for ensuring project success and that agreed Hitachi profit objectives are met or exceeded, within the agreed timescales, whilst maintaining an exemplary level of customer satisfaction, in a rewarding and flexible environment.

Responsibilities
  • Establish, agree and communicate the agile delivery plan for each assigned project, in line with Hitachi standards and practices, tailoring information, insights and arguments for different stakeholders
  • Implement best of breed agile processes for delivering projects ensuring including Kanban board management, daily scrums, sprint reviews, backlog activities and tiger teams.
  • Ensure that client deliveries are done in accordance with the Hitachi and client technical and operational expectations and exercise proactive escalations as neccessary 
  • Operate tight controls to monitor and report on progress, specifically recording all costs and effort expended on the project
  • Report progress to both the customer and Hitachi management, ensuring a sound, comprehensive status is reported and all issues, risks and exposures are highlighted
  • Provide leadership to all project participants, building mutual support and ensuring that a sense of common purpose is developed, by providing a clear sense of direction and aligning goals, objectives and priorities to business strategy
  • Overall, ensure that all completion milestones are achieved, obtaining customer sign-off and acceptance certification
  • Manage or participate in any strategic post project reviews and feedback lessons learned, as part of Hitachi process improvement. Simplifying, improving and supporting innovation, in order to increase efficiency
  • Ensure that the Hitachi Vantara brand value is enhanced through maintaining high customer satisfaction throughout the project and where customer policy allows, that the customer can be referenced for the service delivered
  • Ensure all projects are appropriately resourced and that resources are assigned within Changepoint for time management purposes. Ensure budgeted and planned hours are maintained accurately and project time, expense and invoice approvals are dealt with in a timely manner. Folders need to be retained according to published standards to satisfy audits
  • Continually develop personal skills, demonstrating a strong commitment to personal learning and development
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all core Hitachi Vantara products and services

Main requirements

  • Extensive agile development experience within a technology or service delivery environment
  • Experience with the full Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Experience with and/or knowledge of agile development tools such a Jira.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks within a project from inception through delivery and completion
  • Self- motivated and proactive- proven track record of working well independently and at customer sites
  • Eager to learn and develop technical skills as well as learn professional behaviours
  • The ability to detect possible causes of conflict or customer dissatisfaction early in the cycle and the ability to take decisive action to resolve them
  • Degree or equivalent education or experience
  • Industry recognised Agile or Project Management certification

  • Success of associated project work- ability to plan, manage risk and assess complex situations and deliver projects on time within budget and too expectations
  • Compliance with time and expense reporting guidelines
  • Willingness of Program Managers and Sales personnel to include the Project Manager in future projects
  • Usage and development of published Delivery Service Office methodology’s, tools, and system
  • Billable and Utilisation percentage as a function of time-reporting
  • Compliance with skills-development plan and rating of ability on the various skill areas, within Quickbase
