Intro

The Front-end Developer at funda is not a unicorn. He (or she) is not a full-stack developer, because that is such a buzzword. We do believe in back-enders with some knowledge of front-end, and we have quite a few of those. But, if you are that Front-end Developer with a sense for back-end, well, then you're our guy or girl.

The kick of developing at funda goes beyond working on a high traffic site (500,000 pv p/h), beyond the fact that everyone (your friends, your family and neighbors) knows funda and uses it and way beyond the fact that it's a top brand. The real kick, as your future colleague developer Tom puts it, is "that it's impossible not to grow at funda. Every day, you work with the best people on the newest things and you release those six times a day, at least."

Your job

Every day, you will work in a team on maintaining and renewing the funda front-end platform. In this way, you will contribute to creating the best user experience. You will be working on matters such as performance, responsive design, accessibility and an efficient maintenance method. We expect that you will develop your own vision, collaborate, and initiate focused innovations.

You collaborate with UX-designers and Software Developers by creating reusable components using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You write semantic code and you see the value of maintainable code.

Your team

You are part of a Scrum team that consists of a Product Owner, UX Designer, multiple Developers, an Agile Tester and a Service Operations Professional. Together, you are responsible for the online experience of the funda platforms, where it comes down to the real estate agent. As you can understand, this gives you a central role within your organization. Together, you work on your own focus area, within which there is ample space for new ideas, experimenting with new technologies, and on the spot learning.

  • Approximately 3 years of experience in a comparable role
  • Expert with HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Enthusiastic about new technologies and prepared to experiment with these
  • Analytical, innovative, creative, good communicative skills, and a perfectionist (and you have a good taste in music, but that might be asking a bit too much...)
  • A team player with a healthy dose of humor who isn't afraid to enter into a discussion
  • Experience with Agile methods (we use Scrum)

Nice to have

  • Experience with the following makes us extra happy:
  • Building modular JavaScript with attention to Progressive Enhancement
  • A CSS preprocessor (we use SCSS)
  • Node.js task runners (preferably Gulp!)

Perks

  • Phone subscription
  • Home internet
  • Contribution for gym
  • Your pension
  • Flexible working times
  • Training
  • Games (table tennis, table football, PS4)
  • Great office in Amsterdam with a view of the IJ and near Central Station.
