Intro

DevOps is a philosophy rather than a job position. Some think the DevOps Engineer is a developer who does operations, while others view it as an enhanced operations position. But not at funda.

Of course you are not afraid to script, but, as DevOps Engineer, you are so much more. You collaborate and break down the ‘silos’. You create unity and ensure that everything remains operational. Both online and physical. In doing so, you are supportive and work with continuous integration and continuous deployment.

Working on such a high traffic site with the best developers every day; yes, that’s certainly challenging and exciting. Developing, knowing that millions of visitors every month trust in your capabilities.

Your job

Your work consist of two pillars: on the one hand keeping the servers and the site operational, and on the other hand supporting the developers. You work on high availability and high performance under high traffic and high pressure. You simultaneously work on various projects and at various levels. Independent, or Scrumming in a team.

Every single day, you are a pioneer with the newest techniques such as Docker and Mesos, hosting on Amazon, and you know your way around Windows and Linux. IIS, SQL Server and configuration management. CHEF, Puppet, Salt, Ansible? You know exactly what you’re doing!

Your team

In addition to you, the System & Application Management department consists of two more DevOps Engineers. Additionally, there is an Application, a Network and a Workplace Manager. Together with the Product Owner and the Manager, you form a dynamic team of eight people.

Main requirements

  • HBO (higher professional education)-level working and thinking
  • At least four years of experience with application management and software development or scripting
  • Knowledge of both Windows and Linux servers, continuous integration, IIS, Apache, and SQL-server
  • Experience with C# is an advantage
  • Analytical skills and able to prioritise
  • Communicative, service-oriented, problem-solving, and decisive
  • Experience with Agile working methods (preferably Scrum)
  • You stay calm while maintaining a precarious balance between the speed of development and the stability of the production environment.
  • You perfectly sense when it’s time to inform stakeholders and colleagues.
  • You invent and implement robust solutions for IT automation.
